JEWISH DIET

      The basis of the Jewish diet is kashrut - a religious and philosophical idea of proper nutrition, which is rooted in the distant past of the Jewish people. Today, nutritionists have made some changes to this diet, and it may well be used as a basis for a healthy diet.

        Kashrut is a set of rules about how a Jew should eat. They are based on two basic rules:

about kosher food and product compatibility. For thousands of years, Jews have followed these rules:

  eat meat and dairy products separately;

  do not eat the meat of "unclean animals";

  do not eat animal blood;

  observe very strict hygienic rules when cooking;

  eat only kosher food.

      Because in the past Jews lived in very hot places and the meat of some animals, such as pork and the blood of slaughtered animals, spoiled very quickly to prevent poisoning, this meat was banned (the same laws were applied to those living next door. Muslims). All authorized products were called kosher, not authorized clubs.

       There are also neutral products - parve, which are not cooked with meat or milk. If you plan to eat parve with meat, then use utensils in which meat was cooked, but not milk. And vice versa. Parva includes fish, vegetables, fruits, vegetable oil, and honey.

        Kosher has long been considered the meat of animals that live on land, have a forked hoof and chew gum. These are beef, lamb, venison. Horses and donkeys do not have a forked hoof, so their meat is not kosher. And pigs have a forked hoof, but do not chew gum.

        The basis of the modern Jewish diet is still kashrut, but modified in accordance with modern ideas about healthy eating. The type of this diet is low-calorie with a separate diet. Kosher products are no longer mentioned in this diet, as today everyone has refrigerators. But the compatibility of products must be taken into account. Meat and milk are still considered to be largely incompatible. Milk and dairy products are completely excluded from a strict diet.

         You can lose weight on this diet, but slowly. This is just one of the healthy eating options. If a person used to eat a disorderly diet and eat a lot of high-calorie foods, then switching to a Jewish diet, he will initially lose about a kilogram a week until he reaches a constant normal weight.

      If you add exercise according to age and physical condition, you can lose weight even faster.

     There is no set of foods in the Jewish diet, but there are rules to follow:

  milk and any dairy products are separate products and are not mixed with anything; the combination of dairy products and meat is especially harmful, and during a strict diet for weight loss dairy products are completely excluded from the diet;

  meat should be "lean", although each meat has a hidden fat of 15 to 45%, it is combined with eggs;

  fish is combined with green vegetables and garden greens: dill, parsley, cilantro;

  vegetables can be combined with cereals;

   from fats it is possible to use basically vegetable oils: olive, sesame, pumpkin oil, it is considered that animal fats are enough in the consumed meat;

  fruits can be eaten between meals without mixing them with other foods; but apples and pears can be added to salads, eating them during the main meal; for example, a salad of apples, pears, carrots and cucumbers, seasoned with honey, is useful;

  do not drink alcohol and caffeinated beverages: strong tea, coffee;

  do not eat sweets, but during the day you can eat up to three tablespoons of honey;

  you can drink as much as you want during the day, preferring freshly squeezed juices, green tea or just water, but not carbonated and sweet;

  you can eat no more than three times a day at intervals of five to six hours.

       

       The Jewish diet is not extreme, it is rational, helps maintain good health and an active lifestyle, and if necessary, slow weight loss. It is possible to follow its rules for a long time and even a lifetime, if you gradually add low-fat dairy products, such as kefir, unsweetened yogurt, low-fat cottage cheese and cheese.
